About this product

Proven to maximize engine life, Valvoline Advanced Protection Full Synthetic 0W-8 Motor Oil delivers outstanding performance and durability you can count on. Formulated with high-quality synthetic base oils, it provides stronger wear protection, better deposit defense, and better heat protection than industry standards. Advanced additive boosters minimize the effects of excessive heat and defend against damaging sludge to improve engine cleanliness. Its full synthetic formula flows easily during low temperatures to reduce wear at cold starts — when most engine damage occurs — and enhances fuel economy for more efficient performance. Valvoline Advanced Protection full synthetic formula not only improves fuel economy but also safeguards against the four major causes of engine breakdown: wear, friction, heat and deposits. Suitable for hybrid cars as well as most Toyota, Honda, Nissan Chevy, Ford, Dodge and more. For confidence and protection you can trust in all kinds of driving conditions, switch to Advanced Protection Full Synthetic motor oil. From Valvoline, the Original Motor Oil brand.

Good to know

Questions

Everything you need to know about this product. Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out to our team.

It depends. Some vehicle manufacturers provide a range of recommended motor oil viscosity grades based on the outside temperature in which the car is driven. Other manufacturers recommend the use of only one motor oil viscosity grade. For best engine performance, always follow the manufacturer's recommendations found in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

The "w" in motor oil stands for winter. The first number in the oil classification refers to a cold weather viscosity. The lower this number is, the less viscous your oil will be at low temperatures. For example, a 5W- motor oil will flow better at lower temperatures than a 15W- motor oil. The higher number, following the “w” refers to hot weather viscosity, or how fluid your oil is at hot temperatures. The higher the number, the thicker the oil at a specified temperature.

The starburst symbol means that the oil meets the requirements of the International Lubricants Specification Advisory Committee (ILSAC) in addition to the requirements of API, as stated in the API starburst symbol on the back of the bottle. Only certain viscosity grades are eligible for the starburst symbol.

Some motor oil brands claim 20,000-mile oil change intervals. But it comes down to individual driving habits, conditions, and ultimately what’s recommended in your vehicle owner manual. Valvoline recommends referring to your owner’s manual for oil change intervals.

The following Valvoline motor oils meet or exceed the requirements of GM standard dexos 1™ Gen 3: • Extended Protection Full Synthetic • Advanced Full Synthetic • Valvoline Full Synthetic

In addition to Valvoline motor oil being certified and approved by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet OEM quality and performance standards, we performed side-by-side ASTM-D7563 emulsion tests comparing Valvoline with the industry-leading synthetic. We didn’t stop there. Using a third-party testing service, Valvoline also had the motor oil independently evaluated. Both comprehensive tests revealed the same results: All Valvoline full synthetic motor oils offer 24X stronger protection against engine-killing contaminants than the industry-leading full synthetic.
